Meditation is a discipline at the heart of all the major Wisdom traditions of the world. There are many different methods: the aim of all is to still the mind.

The first step is to still the body through awareness and relaxation. The health benefits of this have been well documented: lowering stress and tension, resulting in more energy, lower heart rate and lower blood pressure. Then comes stilling the breath and stilling the mind. Through sharpening the attention in various ways into a one pointed focus, concentration and clarity of thought are greatly enhanced and the relentless cycle of ideas, images and emotions is halted. This has many benefits: Balancing your emotions, increasing creativity and improving the performance of your mind.   With time and practice, stilling the mind enables you to access deeper layers of consciousness that are otherwise obscured by the surface mind.   This can eventually lead to increased self-knowledge, stronger intuition and spiritual awareness.   Meditation is a way of transforming yourself and your life.
